Modern technologies aimed at advancing scientific research, together with investments in scientific infrastructure, are beginning to generate tangible research outcomes.
We are pleased to announce that the research article “Draft Genome Data of Pediococcus acidilactici strain AP1 isolated from Common carp (Cyprinus carpio)” has been accepted for publication in the international journal Data in Brief, published by Elsevier.
As part of this study, genomic data were generated using the advanced Illumina MiSeq i100 Series NGS platform. The equipment was acquired with financial support from the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and its capabilities are now being effectively utilized in ongoing scientific research.
This represents a practical example of how investments in modern scientific equipment can be transformed into internationally recognized research outcomes.
WGS is not the end of research — it is the beginning of new scientific opportunities.
Building on the genomic data obtained, research in the field of Genome Mining is currently underway. In particular, microbial genomes are being investigated to identify genes and genomic regions associated with:
- insecticidal genes and compounds;
- antimicrobial compounds;
- secondary metabolites;
- biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs);
- industrially relevant enzymes;
- other biologically active molecules.
Their functional characteristics and potential biotechnological applications are also being investigated.
Today’s publication is not the end of this journey. It is only the beginning.
Our work will continue with the in-depth analysis of genomic data, identification of novel bioactive compounds and functionally important genes, and integration of these findings into practical biotechnology research.
For us, the most important goal is to fully utilize the capabilities of the developing scientific infrastructure, integrate advanced research equipment with scientific projects, and transform these technological capabilities into internationally relevant scientific outcomes.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan for creating the scientific and technical opportunities and providing support for the implementation of these research activities.
We would also like to express our special appreciation to our colleague Ulugbek Yusupov for his practical support in conducting the WGS and sequencing activities.
This is only the beginning. Greater genomic studies, new discoveries, and new scientific achievements lie ahead!
